MARY YONG

VIOLIN

Violist Mary SangHyun Yong has recently soloed with the Philadelphia Orchestra and Sejong Soloists Chamber Orchestra. Her upcoming appearances include a solo viola recital in Seoul, Korea sponsored by Kumho Asiana Foundation and a performance at the Carnegie hall as a part of “Sejong Soloists.” Active as a chamber musician, Ms. Yong has performed and given masterclass with musicians from the Philadelphia Orchestra and also participated as an artist in Marlboro Music Festival in Vermont in 2011. As an orchestra musician, Ms. Yong currently holds a principal position at Juilliard School and a sublist position at the Philadelphia Orchestra.

 

Mary Yong is a prize winner of Primrose Viola Competition, Lionel Tertis Viola Competition and Brahms International Music Competition. Mary Yong has earned her Bachelor’s degree at Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia where she has studied with Roberto Diaz and Misha Amory.

 

Mary Yong is currently studying with Heidi Castleman and Hsin-Yun Huang at Juilliard School, NY.
